Toronto

I wanted to do my first non American city in a post. The first city I could think of was Toronto probably because when you talk about somewhere outside of America I usually hear Toronto. I actually never noticed how many rappers were from Toronto. Some notable rappers from Toronto are Drake, K'naan,  Kardinal Offishall, JD Era, Famous, and one of the biggest producers out right now Boi1da. I could name a lot more underground rappers I know from Toronto but I don't feel like listing more than I already did.

New Orleans

Ok so this is our first southern rap city. I had to do one. This is probably the best out of the bunch besides Atlanta. New Orleans has so much talent and appreciate the music these dudes make. Most notably when you think of New Orleans you think of Cash Money Records which has been around sincce 1991. Some notable rappers from New Orleans are Lil Wayne, Curren$y, Birdman, Juvenile, Jay Electronica, DJ Khaled, Mannie Fresh, B.G., & Mack Maine.

Philly

You know I had to do my own city. And you know I know every rapper that's ever come out of philly but I aint gonna waste my time writing em all. Some of these dudes are my cousins and I've met some of em. Some notable philly rappers are Black Thought of The Roots, Cassidy, Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Eve, Meek Millz (upcoming dude you'll know him), Young Chris, Gillie Da Kid & Will Smith (Can't forget the Fresh Prince). I could keep going. Come on we underrated.

Detroit

I figured I'd stay in the same area as the Chicago post. Detroit and Chicago are very similar cities in my opinion. I also like a lot of the rappers that are out there. Some notable rappers from Detroit are Eminem, Royce Da 5'9, Big Sean, Black Milk, Guilty Simpson, Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids & the late producer J Dilla is from Detroit as well. A great city that is sometimes overlooked and underrated in hip hop. I got another post coming later tonight.

The Bedford-Stuyvesant Neighborhood

Well Bedford-Stuyvesant is in Brooklyn its a Neighborhood who have had some of the stars of hiphop from there here are some Aaliyah, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Lil Kim, Big Daddy Kane, Mos Def, Fabolous, Ol' Dirty Bastard and GZA. Jay-z raps "me I'm up at Bed-Stuy, home of that boy Biggie" on his song "Empire State of Mind" from his album "Blueprint 3".

Harlem

First let me give it up to Math for comin up with this idea of doing citys and area of where hiphop artists come from. I wanted to do new york but then thought there are so many areas of it Queens, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Manhattan (Harlem), The Queensbridge Projects in the borough of Queens, The Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. So all these areas of New York will be in different posts. Im going to do Harlem.

They had artists like Kurtis Blow who was one of the first emMcs in hiphop, Doug E. Fresh who is a rapper, producer and human beep boxer he can do anything, Biz Markie a rapper and DJ, Big L (Even though he from england he came to New york at a young age) and Mase who was signed to bad boy records. And "Children of the Corn" which had Big L, Bloodshed, Ma$e, Cam'Ron and McGruff.

Chicago

Ok I feel like starting a post that I will do every Saturday that will shout a different city's rappers. I figured I'd start with Chicago because I just like the style of most of the dudes out in Chi-Town. Rap really got popular in Chicago in the mid 80's like most areas You probably know most of these Chicago dudes Lupe, Common, Kanye West, Twista, Rhymefest, Kidz In The Hall, The Cool Kids, GLC and more. Check some songs from my favorite Chicago rappers below.
