Nas Says " Roots, "Reggae & Hip-Hop Are Cousins"

"Reggae and hip-hop are cousins,'' he said in an interview. "Go back before the '90s and think about the music that was playing on the ghetto blasters and you'll hear it...The whole world is like family, split up all over the place. It's overdue, and I want to help build whatever we can [in Africa]. I've worked with a lot of reggae artists, like Sizzla and Supercat, but not until [2005's] Jamrock did I get a chance to work with Damian. I love his music and I'm a big fan of Bob Marley and the whole family. We haven't worked out any tour dates yet. But I'm sure Damian and I will do something soon."

What the fans would think. "I feel good about it," Nas said about the album and his legacy. "So I can't say how it's gonna affect my musical legacy. I just think that with everything I do, I want it to mean something. Like ['Tony Montana'] said, 'I tell the truth, even when I lie.' What he was sayin' is, he never lies. He's honest, even when he makes mistakes or misjudgements, he did it in truth. Everything I'm doing is because I feel right about it. The benefit of it [is] we contributed something to the world. Something like this...I don't know who's gonna like it, who's gonna hate it or whatever, but it's another contribution to the world. One more thing to just listen to."

Distant Relatives will reportedly be released Tuesday, April 20th

The Best Kid Rappers Ever

Shyheim probably was the only kid you could listen to and think he was 30 years old. What he rapped about was definitely not what you would expect a 15 year old to rap about. He dropped his first album in '93. Everyone is probably saying that he didn't write his rhymes. Either way he was schooled in rap by the Wu Tang Clan. As a kid he had spent time living with Ghostface Killah. I know a lot of you are saying I never heard of this dude. He has dropped 4 albums out and is still making music.

A+ is a name probably more of yall are familiar with. A+ was 14 when his first album dropped. He began his rap career after winning a talent competition sponsored by Def Jam records. I actually purchased one of his albums back when I was 8. It was crazy to see a kid spitting like he was. He was called the young Nas or AZ. He definitely had the greatest delivery I had ever heard by a kid. He kind of disappeared after he dropped his second album in 1999 at the age of 16.

No matter how wack Bow Wow is now. Back in the day he was crazy to me. I do suspect that he didn't write his rhymes though. Anyway back when I was really young Bow Wow was one of everyone's favorite rappers especially the girls. He made this list pretty much because he still has success rapping for over 10 years.

Big Sean - Supa Dupa Lemonade (Freestyle)

Man Sean killed this. I think we all can agree that he is next up. Kanye need to give him more play than he gets. We all know that this beat was too good for Gucci. Curren$y already killed so I'm bout to put a verse on it real quick. It's also being reported that Big Sean will be on the cover with other rappers of the XXL 2010 Freshmen list.

Nas & Biggie (Old School Pic)

Ok yall all know that I got this picture post idea from Brenn. I thought it was a dope idea. And I happened to just stumble upon this picture. It's dope probably the only picture of these two together.

Cory Gunz

I want to keep giving you new artists. Cory Gunz is a rapper from The Bronx. He is the son of rapper Peter Gunz. I'm not really a big fan of Cory Gunz but the dude has talent. And I want to keep introducing yall to new rappers. You can definitely listen to him and hear the Eminem influence & the Twista sound. He is known for his fast rapping style. I really like hearing this dude freestyle rather than his songs. But that's just my opinion. Listen to that Son Of A Gun.

New Vids: Mos Def - White Drapes, Wale - O Let's Do It Freestyle, Esso - Hello

Instead of calling these posts What's Going On 'll just tell you the names of the videos. Really this is just some new songs and videos that I like. I'm not really trying to post for everybody on these posts. First I love that Mos Def vid he kills it. The Wale freestyle is dope too if you've ever actually heard the actual song its pretty wack so its good to hear a good rapping on it. And yall should check out this guy Esso really like the song. Esso might get a post if he keeps it up.

Lupe Fiasco recently revealed that he might release two new albums this year, not just one. During an interview with Tony Touch, Lupe said his upcoming "Lasers" album already has a lead single but first he talked multiple albums. "I might do that this year too," Lupe said about releasing two albums for 2010. "FYI, maybe, maybe. If there's room. We'll see. We'll see. But even with that, I try not to rush because there's trends and you might get hyped up -- but before you know it, that trend has worn off and you look like the old dude."

"I think there's some people that sold a lot of records that kinda burned their candle at both ends...['I'm Beaming,'] just like it is with all my music, it's official now...It leaked out, so we had to chase it. It wasn't meant to be the first single, but it's the first look produced by The Neptunes -- it's actually the first record on the album."

Rare Picture.

This is a new type of post which im going to try and see how it goes. It is a post of pictures/photos in hiphop. It could be old or new but I think it might be a good idea so lets see how it goes.

Jay Z And Nas In 90s.

B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray

I already posted B.O.B. on my Rappers To Watch In 2010 post but I felt devoting one post to talk about him. If you know his music then you probably are a fan of Outkast because everyone is saying that he is a one man Outkast group. He does sound a lot like Andre 3000. When I first heard him I just liked his music I didn't think he was that good of a lyricist but I liked his songs and he made good music. He has since gotten better with his lyrics in 2010. His debut album is dropping in May something to get excited for. He will be pretty big. I do it for the love of the music Audio Dope
