Top 20 Jay-Z Songs (Part 1)

Yeah so I peeped Brenn's Top 20 Nas songs list. Liked it. Thought I would continue with it this time using Jay-Z. Who will eleven number 1 albums should have a lot of good songs. Of course we all know Jay is one of the best of all time.

20. Do It Again (Put Ya Hands Up) - It's been a minute since I've listened to this track. But Jay is at his best with the lyrics. Song gets me hype when I listen to it. Vintage Jay-Z.

19. Jay-Z - Ignorant Shit - This is one of the most clever Jay-Z tracks ever. People usually don't get it and they're not supposed to. Beans kills it on his part too which is just a plus.

18. Jay-Z - Coming of Age & Da Sequel - I couldn't choose between these two songs. They are pretty much the same. Just like most of Jay-Z's old tracks you can tell that he was much more hungry in his bars.

17. Jay-Z - Give It To Me - This is literally the first Jay-Z song I've ever heard so I had to put this song on the list. The video's a little crazy. But it showed you that Jay-Z can always make a club hit.

16. Jay-Z - Where I'm From - Jay-Z made a better version of Diddy's Angels joint back in 97. Definitely one of my favorite Jay joints. As he talks about where he grew the Marcy projects in Brooklyn.

15. Jay-Z - December 4th - In my opinion this is one of the most underrated Jay-Z songs ever made. I feel like he really goes in on this. Plus its cool he got his mama on the song.

14. Jay-Z - So Ghetto - Jay on a premo beat enough said. Jay-Z came hard with the lyrics on this one.

13. Jay-Z - Song Cry - One of the most heartfelt Jay joints ever made. Gets in depth with his relationship issues. Hey it's hard to have relationships when your a young million dollar rapper.

12. Jay-Z - Anything - Another heartfelt joint. I love the sample. This song just brings back memories for me.

11. Jay-Z - A Star Is Born - I couldn't leave this joint off I've got a lot of old Jay joints on this list. But this song as Jay-Z pretty much talks about who's been in the rap game the past 10 plus years. And I think it's pretty clever how J. Cole is on the song kind of introducing him to the game.

Black Star - Proved A Point?

Black Star is a hiphop duo group with two of the most respected artist in hiphop
Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Black Star arose from the underground movement of the late 1990s. Which they only made one album as Black Star. Which drop in 1998 and it was called Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star. To me this album is one of the best of all time for several reason. One would be why the album was made and what it deals with. The album deals with modern-day issues, philosophical ideas, and life in Brooklyn, New York City, as the two artists know it.

First single, "Definition," is a stern response to hip hop's fascination with death, and a dedication to slain emcees Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.. As the chorus goes,

“ One two three/Mos Def and Talib Kweli/We came to rock it on to the tip-top/Best alliance in hip-hop, Y-O/I said, one two three/It's kind of dangerous to be an emcee/They shot Tupac and Biggie/Too much violence in hip-hop, Y-O"

It showed on this track the two of them wanted to make a stand in hiphop and stop the violence.

Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli) - Definition, RE: Definition

To The Present...

Everyone I just wanted to put out a quick post on the blog now. I put most new hiphop in to it but added a classic track at the bottom.

Lupe Fiasco Lives Out Childhood Dream With Novel, "Since I Was A Little Kid I've Been Telling Stories". I saw this interview on nas blog but I like it so wanted to add it to this post. But hiphop artist writting novels and books we seen before as the Clipse's Malice said he planned on dropping his own book last fall. Q-Tip has also decided to ink a tell-all book called Industry Rules which will reflect his rap career including his falling out with A Tribe Called Quest.
Check out Lupe Fiasco's interview below

NBA superstar LeBron James has co-signed Drake's recent rise in hip-hop and called the emcee's overall talent "unbelievable." LeBron believes Drizzy made an impact on the music game with his mixtapes."Unbelievable recording artist," LeBron said of Drake. "Unbelievable talent. I'm looking forward [to] his first LP. I think we all got So Far Gone and all the mixtapes he's come out with. But he's an unbelievable talent. He's great for everybody, great for music."

Even NBA legend Magic Johnson also shared his appreciation of Drake's contributions to hip-hop. "Drake is bringing a lot to the table, man, with a young audience," Magic said in an interview. "He's from Toronto. I think he's bringing it hard and heavy, you know? My daughter said I was cool because I was coaching with him instead of him coaching with me. All right, thank you!"
New York rapper Fabolous has promised to release his There Is No Competition 2 mixtape with DJ Drama this week.
"The mixtape is coming at the end of this week," Fab told radio host Angie Martinez. "It was supposed to have came and I gave a date but people have been killing me but I really wanted to make sure I put good material on it and now people started coming. I just got a verse from Nicki Minaj, I got something from Trey Songz, Jadakiss, so I added a couple things and people should just [be patient.] This could possibly have been an album -- but it's over other people's beats, too. Some of it is original joints but some is over, I did 'Say Something,' I did 'All The Way Turnt Up,' I did the Waka Flocka beat, few joints and then a few originals, mixed it up."
I cant wait for this to drop. It going on my ipod as soon as it comes on the internet.

Last thing I wanted to put this video fromn youtube I found the over month. It is a dope track which is from Run DMC with Nas and Prodigy of Mobb Deep. Its called Queens Day and it from there album Crown Royal [2001].

Is Hiphop An Addiction?

Whats good everyone, In the last hour or so I been checking out so many different hiphop websites. To see if I could add anything to this post or my blog. Not much has happen in the hiphop world in the last couple of days. I seen some new tracks and interviews thats it. We need to see an album or mixtape to drop soon. Last I wanted to shout out to MalibuMara for making the dope header which is at he bottom of the blog at the momment. Which I will be putting at th top of the blog soon.

Drake says for his new album "Thank Me Later" which drops this year. He has study Nas is work and music to help with his first album. And also said he done the same with Andre 3000. Which shows Drake whats to improve as an artist which is great as we all know he has talent but he got more to give the fans.

So we know Kanye west has not made anything since 808s & Heartbreaks. Which was over a year and a half ago. There are many fans which want his new album to come soon. But today a new video for “Coldest Winter” by Kanye West.

KANYE WEST "Coldest Winter" Directed by: NABIL "ITUNES link below" from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.

Jay-Z & Eminem are to perform at Ireland’s Oxegen music festival in July. The renegades are back and this will be Em’s first appearance in Ireland since his sold out shows in 2004. Rihanna Talks "Rated R" Follow-Up, Wants "More Energetic, Up-Tempo Pop Records"

Im a fan of all types of music and I know Rhianna not hiphop really. But she provides great collaboration with hiphop artist and her music is out of this world. Im a big fan of her. And her track Rude Boy is class.

KRS-One & DJ Premier "Return Of The Boom Bip" Album 2010

In 1993, after five studio albums under the name of Boogie Down Productions, KRS-One released the first album under his solo name, Return of the Boom Bap. Released on Jive Records, the album debuted at #37 on the charts, and prompted hits like the Showbiz-produced "Sound Of Da Police" and the DJ Premier-produced "Outta Here." The Gang Starr beat-king produced seven of the album's 14 tracks, as its remembered as one of The Teacha's finest solo offerings.

Over 16 years later, DJ Premier and KRS-One are said to be at work at Return of the Boom Bip. The album, reportedly coming on Premier's Year Round Record. Also on DJ Premier it said - Also KRS-One and DJ Premier, we’re doing Return of the Boom Bip. Not Boom Bap, Boom Bip. Shout out to Q-Tip who is already on it. Grand Puba and Ice-T who are on it, it’s going to be one of the illest album’s of 2010!

My view on this album is it going to be one of the greatest album of this year. It got one of the best hiphop artist of all time, the teacher of hiphop KRS One and it with the best producer in hiphop history DJ Premier. What a team it will be and they worked together before. So it is going to be a classic. Speaking of Classic they both work together on that with Kanye West, Nas, Rakim which is one of the videos below. To show what they are like working with each other.

KANYE WEST, RAKIM, KRS-ONE, NAS & DJ PREMIER: CLASSIC

Peace All.
